This project explores the future of automotive UX through the lens of Aston Martin’s iconic design language and heritage. I conducted user research and ergonomic studies to investigate how automatic seat adjustment could adapt to different driving contexts—Comfort (GT), Sport, and Racing modes. By blending insights from user comfort, posture, and performance ergonomics, we aimed to envision how the Aston Martin DBS of 2035 could seamlessly balance refined British craftsmanship with the evolving expectations of next-generation drivers.

Track Mode UI

The Track Mode central UI is designed to put race-critical data at the driver’s fingertips. The total race time and best lap time are surfaced with the largest visual weight, ensuring that the driver can glance quickly and stay oriented without unnecessary distraction. The ranking panel is positioned in the middle, balancing visibility for both the driver and potential co-pilot or track engineer monitoring in-car performance. Its compact leaderboard format provides quick comparative feedback against competitors without overwhelming the screen with secondary metrics. On the right-hand side, the track map overlay highlights opportunity zones in red, with precise time deltas (e.g., –0.37s, –0.51s). This gives drivers clear, actionable insights on where they can improve performance across different sectors (S1, S2, S3).

HUD

In Track Mode, the HUD integrates a dynamic red line cue that provides beginner drivers with intuitive braking guidance. By visually signaling the optimal timing to press the brake, the system lowers the cognitive barrier for less experienced racers, helping them build confidence while learning track rhythm. This feature not only enhances safety but also shortens the learning curve, creating a supportive yet performance-driven driving experience.

The second part focuses on building a design system from initial sketches and reimagining the Mercedes-Benz EQS 2035 UI through that system.

Design System

Building on the design system, I created the Mercedes EQS 2035 UI by tailoring its visual language and interactions to core EV features—highlighting elements such as charging, range optimization, and intelligent energy management to craft a seamless electric driving experience.
